Kona Fishing on the Maya Mahi

Kona Fishing on the Maya MahiYou will be really excited about our Kona, Hawaii Charter Boat Program for many reasons.  For starters the boat is a 38' long x 15' wide Egg Harbor Sport Fisher.  The cabin (which is air conditioned if needed) consists of a stateroom with queen bed, side bunk room with upper and lower twin beds, full sized head and separate shower.  The galley has a microwave, cook top, full size fridge and all the stuff for overnight trips or deluxe day trips.  An L-shaped couch that makes into a bed, completes the cabin layout.

The stern cockpit has padded bolsters and a15' beam, offering plenty of room for the deck chairs so you'll be comfortable while trolling plus plenty of rail space for chunking / drifting.

Up-top, the fly bridge is covered with a hard top for shade and a big cushioned bench allowing you to catch the cooling breeze.  Here you'll see how the boat is run - all from the captain's view.

The next reason to be excited is the actual fishing.  That is where you will find that we stand out from other typical Kona fishing charters..

  • Kona Fishing on the Maya MahiYou will use tackle that is matched to what we are fishing for - not a one size fits all solution.  Super heavy gear is the usual solution - we cater your gear to your trip using light tackle as needed.
  • You pick what we do and we've got the gear to match.  For Ono/Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, medium sized Tuna, Spearfish, and Striped Marlin. you'll use 30-40-60 pound rods & reels that you can handle while fighting a fish standing at the rail.  Tuna offshore and Blue Marlin use heavy stand-up gear with belts and harnesses.

The other big difference is that you keep the fish you catch - just like when you fish with us in Gold Beach.  (ask us for details about this as different fish and facilities take different amounts of time for processing)

See the standard charter trips offered here.  Want something different from the standard trip?  Just ask us and we'll work out the details for you.
